There are more than five acres of parkland for you to enjoy, and the facilities are some of the best in the area. Garbage cans and picnic tables have been provided for your convenience. They are marked on the map along with other features of the park.

Don’t leave without visiting our aviary, which specializes in parrots. We have macaws, lories, cockatoos, lovebirds — and new to the family is the rare yellow‐shouldered Amazon Parrot from Venezuela. Marvel at the rainbow of colors. The only thing they have in common is that they all squawk a lot!

Take time to stop and smell the roses. A stroll through our rose garden will help you appreciate our vast collection. We have more than two thousand varieties, so there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget your camera.

Attention all skaters: Have you checked out the halfpipe? On the weekends and after school, an experienced instructor is available to give you some pointers — and to ensure that you keep safe. Next year, we’ll also have a vert ramp. In no time, you’ll be skating like a pro. Helmets and pads are required and are available for rent at the hot dog stand.

Mmmm … that delicious smell is probably one of Artie’s famous hot dogs. Although he’s new to Elmsmere Park, his stands are a familiar sight around the city. People have been enjoying Artie’s hot dogs for years. Each one is made to order — and satisfaction is guaranteed!

Encourage your kids to play creatively — and safely — in our fantastic adventure playground. It’s so good, you may want to join in yourself! Or you may prefer to watch as children gain confidence climbing on the towers and monkey bars, riding the zip line, and swinging on the tire wall.

No park is complete without a duck pond. Come and see our seven different breeds of duck — you can feed them from the bridge. We’re also proud of our new state‐of‐the‐art water cleaning system, which ensures that our pond has the clearest water for miles around. Now you can admire the fish as well as the ducks! If boating’s your thing, think about renting a rowboat so that you can explore around the island.
